THUNDERHEAD EPISCOPAL CAMP
Thunderhead Episcopal Camp
exists to provide an emotionally, physically, and spiritually safe space in
which to nurture a relationship with Jesus Christ and Christ’s people. The goal of the summer camping
program is to provide a sabbath experience in a sacred space that nurtures
faith, fosters intercultural community, develops and deepens friendships,
empowers future leaders, and equips participants to live with Christian
integrity in a safe and joyful atmosphere of fantastic fun. Thunderhead Episcopal Camp is located in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, about 20 miles south of Lead/Deadwood. We provide programs for young people (Episcopalian or not) entering fifth through 12th grade in weeklong sessions. Thunderhead Camp also hosts an annual Women's Retreat and is available for church groups, family reunions, individual or group retreats, and offers a quiet bed and breakfast facility during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. SUMMER STAFFING Staff openings include counseling staff,
cooks, and special program leaders in the area of nature, music,
sports/activities, water safety, and arts and crafts.
All staff should have completed at least one year of college or post
high school experience. Program
leaders also serve as cabin staff and should be at least 21 years of age. The youth camping season runs from early June
through mid-July. Camps are
scheduled by age group. There is a short break
over the 4th of July holiday and all staff have at least 24 hours
off between sessions. Some
cleaning and camp maintenance work is included in the work expectations.
Compensation is generous and the experience is unique and wonderful. Come meet some of the greatest people at one of the most beautiful and
sacred places in the country. For more information and/or to receive an employment application, contact
